Black Eagle Creek
Off-Grid Accommodation
Welcome to Black Eagle Creek, a 36ha farm of untouched, natural beauty just outside Vanwyksdorp, 5km from the village on the Karee Kamma ring road. Here you’ll immerse into peace and quiet, endless landscape views from the deck, bird watching, long hikes amongst unspoilt flora and fauna, and ancient Spekboom trees. A 10 minute easy walk up the mountain takes you to a bluff with views of the Groot River and beyond – watch the eagles soar in front of you. Or take a longer hike to the top of the mountain.
This off-grid, pet-friendly guest cabin is set in a secluded mountain hideaway. It is fully furnished for self catering, with a gas oven and stove, fridge freezer, and all kitchen utensils. There is an outdoor braai facility. The bathroom has a toilet, basin, and shower with a gas geyser. There is a living area with a comfortable sofa and coffee table, books and games. Off the living area is the enclave with a King size bed (or 2 singles) leading into the bathroom, wth the twin bedroom leading off from the bathroom. This bedroom has 2 single beds and a door to the garden. Solar power is used throughout the farm. Crisp clear water comes from a borehole. We strive to be eco-friendly and plastic free.
There are endless walks to explore. We border a game reserve and have resident klipspringers and other interesting wildlife. Black Eagles and Fish Eagles are often spotted as well as other endemic species, making it a notably great bird-watching spot. With views of the Groot River, you’ll spot kudu, waterbuck and sometimes baboons enjoying a swim.
Pets are welcome as long as they respect the wildlife.
Your hosts, Nikki and James, are in a cabin 200m away should you need anything.
